Plan Minecraft materials in whole crafting batches

Understand recipe output, rounded batch counts and leftovers using the calculator’s supported torch recipe.

Start with the supported recipe

This site’s Torch recipe produces four torches from one coal and one stick. The calculator includes a small named recipe set, not every item or mod. Check that your intended recipe matches the displayed ingredient list before gathering materials.

Round batches up

For 10 torches, 10 ÷ 4 = 2.5 batches. Crafting requires whole batches, so round up to three. You produce 12 torches, use three coal and three sticks, and have two torches left over. Rounding down would leave you short.

Try this in the calculator

Select Torch and a target of 10. Compare direct ingredients with expanded supported sub-recipes. The direct result needs three sticks; the expanded view makes a whole batch of four sticks.

Understand expanded ingredients

With supported sub-recipe expansion enabled, the three required sticks are made as one batch of four sticks using two wood planks in this model. The extra stick is an intermediate leftover. The result does not turn every material into its most basic resource.

Keep your inventory separate

The tool does not subtract items already in your inventory. If you need 10 torches in total and already own four, enter six as the remaining target. Check whether you already have the direct ingredients before deciding to expand sub-recipes.

Plan related builds carefully

Separate projects can leave reusable ingredients, but this calculator does not coordinate leftovers across saved scenarios. Keep a separate inventory list when combining projects. Compare direct and expanded ingredient views to see where the whole-batch rounding occurs.
